Project Loom

Project Loom started in 2017 and it’s an amazing project. One of the goals is to bring lightweight threads (Fibers) to the language. You can read more about the State of Loom from Ron Pressler

 

Project Amber

Project Amber is possibly the most known of the new Java projects to the developers. It delivered already some features as var, new Switch expressions, and has others in preview as Records, Text Blocks, Pattern Matching, and Sealed Classes.  To know more about JEP 360: Sealed Classes, you can refer to the article, from the Java Language Architect, Brian Goetz.

 

Project Valhalla

Announced in 2014, Project Valhalla aims to explore and propose advanced JVM and language features. At the moment JEP 169 – Value Types and JEP 218 – Generics over Primitive Types are the incubated ideas.

Oracle did an online event to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Java, where they announced a website, Inside.java that contains a lot of articles related to the platform.
